Elk Point History: The Gift of Lewis and Clark

The history of Elk Point, South Dakota can be defined as colorful and interesting. Others claim it was Clark who gave the community its name. And still others believe that it was Eli Wixson, the first citizen of Elk Point was the one who gave Elk Point as the name of the place.
